While Bellmont was still basking in a little playoff glory on Wednesday, coming off that impressive sectional semi-final win over Yorktown, the squad was turning its eyes on 9-2 Western, Friday's sectional championship game foe.
The game will be played at 7 p.m. at Russiaville (near Kokomo). It will be Bellmont's fourth sectional championship contest over the past five seasons.
Western has two sectional crowns as a school, and one under Engle, 2007. Bellmont will be playing for a second sectional crown. The 2008 victory led to wins the following three weeks, resulting in the 3A state crown.
Engle has coached Western to a 58-22 record and has had five 9-win seasons for the Panthers. Western won a sectional in 2007. The Panthers are 11-6 in tourney play under Engle. This is Getts' first year at Bellmont, taking over for Rick Burkhalter.
"Coach Getts has coached teams to sectional finals in three of the past five years and he really wants to help these kids get their title. He's preaching 'no letdown' from the dominating style the kids played with last week," said assistant coach Taylor.
    HOP's PICK: BRAVES 14, Western 7.
