Bellmont and South Adams both picked up varsity baseball wins Wednesday with the Braves whipping on the North Side Redskins 10-0 and South Adams captured an 11-5 triumph from Union City.
Bellmont pounded out three extra base hits including a double and home run by Landon Baker who finished the game with four RBIs for the Braves. Brooks Faurote had a triple among his two hits and was credited with a pair of RBIs and Nick Fuelling also hit safely twice in the contest. Brian Hakes had two RBIs for the Braves as well.
Josh Macklin shut the Redskins down in the four innings he pitched for the win for Bellmont allowing only one hit by Dylan Stantz.  Fuelling came on in relief in the top of the fifth and retired the Redskins without incident.
The win for Bellmont was a welcome relief as it stopped a seven-game losing streak to put the Braves at 10-9 for the season.
There has been a slight change in the Bellmont schedule for tonight as the Braves will play East Noble in a conference make-up game at home starting around 6:30 p.m. (the Bellmont-Homestead JV game, which was halted during the contest earlier this year, is being resumed at 5 p.m.). The Braves were to have played Jay County.

Kyle Raugh socked a pair of doubles, including a bases-loaded shot in the first inning that cleared the bases and South Adams went on to take an 11-5 win over Union City.
South Adams threatened to make the game a 10-run affair by going up 9-1 after three innings but SA Coach Brad Buckingham substituted liberally getting some good playing time for bench personnel. The Stars added two in the second and third after opening with five in the first and added two insurance runs in the sixth.
Union City's Antonoglou homered off Taylor Smith for the Indians' first run in the second. His was the only hit for UC off Smith in his three innings of work. Nick Batt threw the fourth and fifth before Dustin Wanner picked up the save with two scoreless frames of relief. Zach Morgan also doubled for the Starfires.
