Braves 2nd at Concordia meet

    FORT WAYNE—A 14-team Concordia Invitational at Foster Park Golf Course Saturday turned into a two-team horse race with sixth-ranked Norwell rallying on the back nine to fashion a 291-309 win over Bellmont.
    The Braves led by one at the turn but sub-par rounds from McCormick Clouser and Ross Matthews from Norwell turned the tide to the Knight's favor. Clouser fired a sparkling 67 with Matthews just one behind him at 68.
    Bellmont posted three solid rounds with Nathan Kortenber finishing at 75 and both Zach Wetzel and Chase Ellsworth finishing at 76. Kortenber's effort was good for fifth over-all on the day while Wetzel and Ellsworth were tied for eighth. Also shooting for the Braves on the day were Barrett Busick with an 82 and Corey Coshow at 85.
    Following the Braves in the team score with Concordia 314, DeKalb 319, East Noble 321, Heritage 322, Woodlan 323, Blackhawk Christian 337, Columbia City 338, Northrop 342, Snider 345, New Haven 347, North Side 351, Leo 360, and Wayne 376.
    Others in the top 10 at the invitational were Sharp of East Noble and Shoemaker of DeKalb, both at 74, Boesler of DeKalb and Stites of Woodlan at 75, and Isaac Tomac of Norwell at 76.
