The Bellmont 200 freestyle relay team, of Jay Watters, Austin McCord, Matt Mock, and Zac Torrey, broke the record last night going 1:32.69, beating the existing record of 1:33.39 as the BHS boys beat the Knights 98-87 in an NHC meet.
The boys move to 7-2 on the season and finish the conference season with a 3-2 record. The girls easily won that meet, 110-75 over the Lady East Noble Knights.
This meet had the boys having 19 personal best. Austin McCord having three, Mason Schultz, Zac Torrey, Harrison Jacobson, and Sawyer Boyd had two each.
"We were behind until the 100 freestyle where our 1, 2, 4 finish put us up by one," stated coach Drew Norby.
"Then the 500 freestyle finish of 1, 2, 5 finish put us up by 7 points. We stilled needed the relays to come through and they did. The 200 Freestyle relay team broke the record earning first place. And the second team of Alec Elder, Kodee McIntosh, Harrison Jacobson, and Mason Schultz got a much needed third place. Schultz entered the water, in his anchor leg, behind by half a body length and beat the others teams anchor by 2 seconds. We held on from there and let our 400 Freestyle relay teams seal the win," described the coach.
Zac Torrey won the 200 free for BHS in 1:57.2 with Mock second. Watters took the 50 free in 22.35 and added the 100 free win in 50.33 to the 52.26 of Torrey with McCord fourth.
Mock scored the 500 win in 5:25.5 with Michael Miller second.
The BHS girls moved to 7-4 for the season and finish the conference season with a 2-3 record.
This win guarantees the girls a winning dual meet season.
The girls had 11 personal best swims, with Chloe Mock having two. The girls had some quality swims last night swimming very close to their best swims, according to Norby.
"This meet was also close until the 100 butterfly when our flyers, doing what they have all year, put the meet out of touch. The flyers, Erin Hunter, Megan Maynard, and Kelsey Link went 1, 2, 3 to out score East Noble in the event by 10 points."
