Blythe wins Decatur Golf Championship
Over the weekend, Cross Creek Golf Club hosted the 2013 City of Decatur Golf Championship crowning Keith Blythe as the winner after two rounds.

Blythe claimed the victory recording a round of 71 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday.
“I played better towards the end of Sunday’s round to hang in there for the tournament win,” remarked Keith after the event.
Nate Kortenber earned second place posting rounds of 73 and 74 over the two days played in the men’s division.
“My driving and good putting helped me play well in the City this year” stated Nate.
Coming in third in the Men’s Championship was Todd Kiser posting 149 over two days. The Super Men’s Senior Division was won by John Geels at 158, while John Hackworth shot 165 for second place.
A.J. Kalver, winner of the Men’s Senior Division with a total of 159, commented afterwards, “I was pleased with my short game that I played these last two days. My chipping and putting helped me win."
Kermit Summers came in second for the Men’s Senior’s Division at 162.
In the Ladies Division, Brenda Shifferly was once again crowned first with her 18th win in the Women’s City of Decatur event. She posted a 165 total. It was her 39th victory overall in the county and city events played throughout her golfing career.
“My family has always supported me to play well in these tournaments,” noted Brenda.
Missy Ainsworth recorded 175 to come in second in the ladies division.
The Junior Girls Division saw Rachel Klingensmith placing first at 178, while Morgan Ellsworth finished second with 184. In the Junior Boys Division, Chase Ellsworth shot a total score of 163 to claim first place with Grant Ainsworth shooting a 166 for second and Patrick Wright finishing in third at 171.
In other scores, Jeff Bauermeister won the Men’s First Flight Division shooting a 155, while Mike Ainsworth came in second at 156.Tied for third was Drew Norby and Kraig Hart as they each shot 157. Grant Ainsworth placed first in the Men’s Second Flight recording a 166, while Phil Summers was just behind at 167. Men’s Third Flight honors went to John Goulet who turned in a total score of 178. Brent Faurote claimed second place at 187.
Terry Laurent, owner and operator of the course, expressed his thanks after the event to all who came out to play in the 2013 City of Decatur Golf Tournament. The event at Cross Creek Golf Club was a great success because of it.
