‘Birthday Bash’ carnival slated Friday for young cancer patient

May 29, 2014

A birthday bash and fundraising benefit will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Bridge Community Church for Ebony Fawcett, a soon-to-be 9-year-old Decatur resident with sparkling eyes and an infectious smile who is battling cancer for the third time.
When Ebony was just over a year old, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a children’s cancer that develops in the nervous system, most commonly in the abdominal and chest area, and is associated with the adrenal glands. This time, however, the cancer has spread to Ebony’s bladder, lymph nodes and bones, putting her in a fight for her life.
“Ebony’s Ultimate Birthday Bash” will offer $1 carnival rides, bounce houses, crafts, popcorn, cotton candy and snow-cones, and a free-will donation dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, two side dishes, chips and a drink.
There will also be a cupcake celebration at 8 p.m., bingo, a silent auction and reverse auction.
