After finishing the season at 4-17 (1-6 in NHC), Bellmont can at least hang their hat on their entry to the All-Conference lists this season.
The Braves' junior, Cameron Bienz, finished the year strong stepping in as one of coach John Baker's better scoring options as well as facilitating the Bellmont offense when senior Lance Vergara was sidelined with injuries.
Bienz was the only member of the Braves' squad to make the team landing in the Honorable Mention list with a pair of Norwell players, a Carroll freshman, and East Noble's only entry.
New Haven's VJ Beachem, a 6'7" senior headed for Notre Dame next season, was the top overall vote-getter in this year's NHC selection. Five players were nominated by each conference coach and the top 10 votes received a spot on the conference's first-team list with the second 10 getting second-team honors and any other player with a vote was placed on honorable mention.
Beachem's selection was just one of five selections for the Bulldogs with Jordan Hogue also netting a first-team slot. Columbia City had four members of their squad make the lists including Drew Benedict, Derek Hinen, and Daniel Woll in the first team. Homestead's Nick Gamble and Caleb Swanigan as well as Adison Daub of DeKalb, Josh VanMeter of Norwell, and Chandler White of Carroll make up the rest of the first team.
On the second team, two more Homestead players were named along with three more New Haven players, two DeKalb starters, and one player from Norwell, Carroll, and Columbia City.
Finishing with an 18-6 (6-1 in NHC) record as well as a sectional title, regional runners-up, and a share of the NHC regular season crown, New Haven's Al Gooden was named coach of the year by his peers.
Homestead also finished 6-1 in conference to share the title with Columbia City and DeKalb finishing 5-2, Carroll ending at 3-4, Norwell going 2-5, Bellmont at 1-6, and East Noble ending winless at 0-7.
