BHS will host 3-team baseball fight vs. cancer

March 12, 2012

Ben Fawbush

Bellmont High School Baseball Coach Ben Fawbush has announced that the team this year will be hosting a new, annual event known as the “Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.”
The event will be held on a rotating basis by all three Adams County high schools: Bellmont, Adams Central, and South Adams.
The purpose and goal of this event, Fawbush said, is to not only raise funds for cancer research, but to raise awareness and support for the cure of any and all cancers.
"We also want to show support for those who have fought and are fighting the disease and pay respect to those that lost their battle," he said.
All three schools will be playing in the “Coaches vs. Cancer” event on Saturday, April 7,  in a three-team round-robin tournament.  Each team will be wearing special T-shirt jerseys partially funded, and designed by, MindsEye Graphics of Decatur.
The shirts will be school colors and feature a large pink school logo on the front.
All three teams will also be wearing pink and white wristbands and pink shoelaces.
Fawbush said proceeds that are raised throughout the tournament via concessions, T-shirt sales, donations of fans, etc. will be donated by all three Adams County schools to the Adams Memorial Oncology Unit.
Additional funding is being sought through sponsorships by local businesses.
Anyone interested in making a donation is asked to contact Fawbush at school, (260) 724-3137, ext. 2648; or by email: fawbushb@nadams.k12.in.us.
