BHS to present musical on Erekson stage

    Bellmont High School will be presenting Elton John's and Tim Rice’s Aida (school edition) on December 1 and 2.
       Aida is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier, a news release said.
    As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Together, they set a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.
    Based on the opera by Giuseppe Verdi, the musical Aida is a pop musical with music that spans the spectrum from rhythm and blues to gospel inspired  to rock to ballads.  The music is by Elton John, the lyrics by Tim Rice and the book was written by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls and Henry Hwang. 
    Aida was originally directed on Broadway by Robert Falls and originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
    Ric Geist, production director and Rick Smith, technical director, are working with Bellmont students as actors, orchestra members and tec crew members in preparation for opening night. 
    Performances will be given in the Erekson Theatre on Saturday, December 1, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, December 2, at 2 pm.  Reserved seat tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for students and seniors citizens. Reserved seats are in the lower sections of the theatre. 
    General Admission tickets are $6. General admission seats are in the two upper mezzanine areas
