BHS linksmen dominate 7 â€” team meet Saturday

So dominant was the Bellmont golf program Saturday morning was evidenced by the fact their second team beat four of the seven teams entered in the annual Bellmont Invitational at the Cross Creek Golf Course.

The number one Bellmont team was never threatened in the meet as they took just 329 strokes to win the 18-hole event. Second place Jay County was in another zip code with 390 strokes while the Bellmont Blue squad fired a respectable 393.
The other four teams in the meet included Southern Wells 406, South Adams 415, Wayne 428, and Adams Central 472.
Bellmont had the top two scores on the day and tied for the third best round. Zach Wetzel earned medalist honors with a five-over-par 77 while Nathan Kortenber carded an 80, Both Chase Ellsworth of Bellmont and Drew Houck of Jay County tied for third with an 83 while Sterling Price of the Bellmont Blue squad came in at 86.
Corey Coshow and Connor Busick completed the top BHS team with scores of 89 and 93 while the Bellmont Blue team had Joey Johnson 98, Andy Hess 104 and both Nick Faurote and Damon Staub at 105 following Price. Other linkers who finished the day in double figures were Tyler Cassidy and Daniel Schmidt of Southern Wells at 93 and 97, Justen Keller of Jay County 95, and Mark Muselman of South Adams at 96.
Other shooters for South Adams included Mark Smith 102, Derek Fox 108, Daniel Heckard 109, and Chase Mosser 125 while Adams Central had Nick McCullough at 113, Blake Pfeiffer 118, Josh Thieme 119, Ren Christian 122, and Pierce Harris 141.
The remaining golfers included: Jay County-Austin Mann 105, Mitchel Rigby 107, Jacob Heitkamp 119; Southern Wells-Justin Herring 103, Nick Thompson 113, and Zach Leyman 117; and Wayne-Paul Sayler and Bryce Reuille both at 101, Cody Groves 107, Dakota Salway 119, and James Sayler 120.
