YORKTOWN— Bellmont golf ended their season on Friday night as did South Adams' Cal Clouser at The Players Club Golf Course, the site of IHSAA regional boys golf.
While Muncie Central officially hosted the regional event, Yorktown High School made themselves at home on a course they played several times this year capturing the top honors with a team score of 302 strokes.
Hamilton Southeastern was nipping at their heels with a 303, good enough for second place, while the last spot available for next week's state golf match went to Pendleton Heights who just edged Lawrence North 309-310.
Cathedral and Noblesville tied for fifth place with 315 strokes as a team, while Connersville shot a 318 for seventh, and New Castle's 319 was good for eighth. The Braves finished ninth overall shooting a 321 on the day, ahead of nine other teams including the two teams that bested them in sectional play.
Bellmont's sectional winner was Marion who finished a disappointing 15th place with 347, while Oak Hill who took second in Bluffton was 12th overall Friday night with a 328. Behind the Braves in 10th place was Shelbyville, followed by Heritage Christian, Oak Hill, Richmond, Mount Vernon, Marion, Centerville, Muncie Central, and Wapahani in that order.
Seniors Corey Coshow and Sterling Price each ended their final campaigns with a solid effort leading the Braves with a 78 each on the day. Fellow Senior Chase Ellsworth, a state finalist last season, fell short this time around with an 80. Patrick Wright was the fourth scorer for Bellmont shooting an 85, while Grant Ainsworth shot a 90 rounding the scores.
Clouser shot an 84 on the day ending his senior campaign as ninth among golfers without a team. Pendleton Heights' Tyler Meyer led the team with a 75 helping the team seal the third state slot.
