ANDERSON — Bellmont junior sprinter Alexis Harvey earned a shot at the Indiana Girls Track Indoor State Finals with a school record 7.39 in the 55-meter dash Saturday in the annual Patriot Invitational at Anderson College as she qualified first out of that meet.
Harvey will be seeded fourth overall in the small school division. She placed fourth last spring in the IHSAA State Girls Track and Field 200 meter (outdoor) finals.
The Bellmont girls 800 and 1600 meter relay teams also qualified for state competition, as did BHS senior Evan Boucher on the boys side.
Boucher, who made the Indoor State Finals two years ago for BHS, went 10:26.54 to qualify 32nd out of 40 runners set for the 3200 meter finals.
The Indoor State Finals will be held at Indiana Wesleyan College in Marian on Saturday.
There were 23 teams from all over the state competing Saturday at Anderson.
The Bellmont outdoor track season will begin on March 20 as the Braves and Squaws will be at Bishop Luers for a 5 p.m. meet. The first home meet is slated for April 5 as Adams Central and Jay County will visit the BHS oval.
