Berne business is about to get a booster shot in the way of a planned expansion of Mid-America Foundation Co., doing business as Poseidon Barge, which will bring approximately 42 new skilled jobs to its new Berne location.
MAFC, which manufactures barges and is headquartered in Fort Wayne, plans to expand its business base in Berne with the purchase of a part of the former Ficosa Complex, located at 725 Parr Road.
With the purchase, MAFC will be investing approximately $2.4 million in manufacturing, logistics and information technology equipment, and some $6 million in real estate improvement, according to Larry Macklin, executive director of the Adams County Economic Development Corp.
