Audra E. Miller

    Audra E. Miller, 88, of Decatur, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Born on June 2, 1923, in Celina, Ohio, to Dallas and Anna (Suhr) Coats, she married Fuhrman P. Miller on March 24, 1946; he died on Oct. 3, 2010.
    A graduate of Celina High School, she was a homemaker and supported her husband's ministry for more than 50 years, which took her to Avilla (1952-1954), Rensselaer (1954-1957), Linn Grove (1957-1961), Decatur (1961-1976), and Goshen (1976-1987).
    She also worked as a teacher's aide in a special education program in Elkhart and in North Adams Community Schools.
    She has been a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church since she and her husband returned to retire from full-time ministry in Decatur in 1987 and was active in the Shalom Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was one of several women who pioneered St. Mark's pre-school ministry in the mid-1960s. 
    The family would like to thank the staff at Woodcrest for its excellent care and compassion.
    Survivors include four sons, Daniel Miller of Danville, Indiana; Mark (Kathy) Miller of Bluffton; Alan Miller of Fort Wayne; and Rev. Kevin (Liz) Miller of Bremen, Indiana; three sisters, Lucille Smith of Coldwater, Ohio; Jane Frysinger of Celina; and June (Ted) Yewey of Wapakoneta, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Russell, and two great-granddaughters.
    Visitation will be on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Woodcrest Nursing Center from 2-3 p.m. and at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m.
    The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark's United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Heinbaugh.
    Burial will take place in Decatur Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
