Arrest made in Rockford murder

    An arrest has been made in the November 8, 2012, murder of Melinda Shinn, 26, Rockford, Ohio, about 25 miles southeast of Decatur, according to the Celina Daily Standard.
    Daniel C. Martin, 40, was arrested in Fort Wayne where he has family. Police have also recovered Martin's Ford Explorer. No further information was immediately available.
    Just before 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rockford Police Department was called to a home at 509 W. North St. in Rockford. Police Chief Paul May found the body of Melinda Shinn, 26.
    It was apparent that the woman had been shot, reports said. Her son, 9, reportedly called police.
    May contacted the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and requested that county detectives handle the investigation, with Rockford officers assisting.
    A warrant for murder was later obtained for Martin, who was Shinn’s boyfriend.
