Arnold D. Emerick

    Arnold D. “Pood” Emerick, 83, of Ohio City, Ohio, died at 4:05 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, in Rockford, Ohio.
    He was born on May 30, 1929, in Ohio City, to the late Doyt Philip and Maude Marilla (Brubaker).
    On April 8, 1956, he married Dixie (Clouse) Emerick; she survives at the residence.
    Pood was a carpenter and worked in maintenance at Woodcrest in Decatur. He was a member of the Ohio City Church of God. A 1947 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School, Pood was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Harvey Lewis Post 346 of the American Legion, Ohio City, and a lifetime member of the Celina V.F.W.
    Among survivors are two daughters, Robin K. (Charles) McConn of Ohio City and Shelley D. (Rod) Emerick-Erickson of Fort Wayne; and grandson, Stephan (Crystal) Oechsle.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Emerick, and sister, Anna Mary Clouse.
    Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 30, 1-6 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 1, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Bevington of Ohio City Church of God officiating.
    Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, with military honors provided by the Ohio City American Legion Post 346.
    Preferred memorials are to Harvey Lewis Post 346 of the American Legion Boys State Fund or Scholarship Fund.
