Armed Forces Day in Decatur will be marked by a special celebration which will benefit an organization which assists veterans.
Chris Johnson, owner/operator of the Wet Spot (formerly Donna's Tap) in downtown Decatur, unveiled the plans at this week's city council meeting as she asked permission to close off part of Second St.
The benefit will feature music and a cornhole tourney, and other activities are being planned. Johnson said funds raised during the day will be turned over to the Homes for Wounded Warriors. The organization builds or modifies homes for veterans with disabilities.
Council unanimously approved blocking off Second St. from Jackson St. to the alley just north of the Wet Spot during the times announced.
