Area spared worst of storms

June 13, 2013

Although many Decatur and Adams County residents were heading for basements and other types of shelter late Wednesday night, the area appeared to have been spared the worst of Wednesday's long-predicted storms.
There were no reports this morning of any major damage here or in the county and, apparently, no ongoing power outages.
Tornado sirens in Decatur began sounding around 11:10 p.m. as a cloud with rotation was reported by the National Weather Service. A tornado warning for the county remained in effect until about 11:45, when it was replaced by a severe thunderstorm warning.
