Area bands capture state trips; AC misses

    The Adams Central High School marching band turned in its best performance of the year at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Semi-State competition at Frankllin High School. on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to propel the Squadron of Sound into this week's State Finals.
    Norwell, Bluffton and Woodlan bands were among the state qualifiers, the former in Class C and the latter two in Class D. The AC band competed in Class D.
    Some of the other qualifiers for a state trip were Homestead, DeKalb, Fort Wayne North Side, Leo, and Fort Wayne Concordia. Homestead advanced in Class A, DeKalb and North Side in Class B, Concordia and Leo in Class C.
    The State Finals on Saturday will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
