Another star-spangled 4th on tap in Decatur

June 5, 2014

Plans have been finalized for Decatur’s 22nd annual Fourth of July fireworks party, chief organizer Adam Eguia told city council on Tuesday night. The Fourth falls on a Friday this year.
The honored guest will be former mayor Fred Isch, along with military veterans, and the main speaker will be retiring Police Chief Ken Ketzler.
Starting at 6 p.m., Eguia said, Rick Teboe will provide music. At 8:15, local Legion Commander Jan Smith will call in the color guard. Mayor John Schultz will welcome the crowd and Bridget Fravel will sing the National Anthem, followed by a prayer given by Legion Chaplain Carl Thieme.
