Another fire hits downtown Monroeville

August 7, 2012

The Decatur Fire Department was dispatched at 6:18 a.m. this morning to assist with a fire at Monroeville Liquors, 102 S Main St., Monroeville.
Decatur firefighters provided aerial and engine support for the Monroeville Fire Department, which was already battling the blaze when Decatur crews arrived, according to a spokesperson for the department.
There was "quite a bit of damage" done to the liquor store, while adjacent buildings may have sustained smoke damage, the spokesperson said.
No further information was immediately available.
Firefighters returned to the station at 8:10 a.m.
On July 6, a building in downtown Monroeville which last housed the Dollar Dan business was destroyed by fire.
