Another buggy occupant killed in crash

    The second fatal traffic accident in a month in Adams County occurred Saturday afternoon, claiming the life of a rural Monroe man.
    The 12:36 p.m. tragedy on County Rd. 000 near CR 200 South caused the death of Andrew J. Hilty, 64, who died at the scene from a broken neck, according to a report from the Adams County Sheriff's Department.
    Hilty was driving a horse-drawn buggy and the horse also was killed,    The accident occurred, according to the police report, when Rustin L. Adams, 20, rural Convoy, Ohio, was driving a pickup truck and he did not see the buggy, hitting it in the rear.
    Hilty was ejected from the vehicle and landed 75 feet away.
    The buggy was destroyed. Combined damages were estimated by the department at $10,000 to $25,000.

    The previous fatal traffic accident in the county was on September 30, also killing the driver of a buggy: Joseph J. Schwartz, 28, of rural Decatur.
