Annual Relay raises nearly $75,000

    The goal of $81,000 was not met, but the total of almost $75,000 that was collected, in a time of economic trials, made the 2011 Adams County Relay for Life successful.
    Organizers of the annual anti-cancer effort, which benefits the American Cancer Society and was held last weekend at Adams Central School, report that Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, which was in charge of food and beverage sales at the event, led the way with $13,466.48 collected.
    The combined total for sponsor funds was No. 2, at $8,750.
    Roger's Recruits, one of 36 teams involved, brought in $5,577.05.
    Meri's Angels team gathered and turned in $4,472.37.

    • First Merchants Bank — $635.
    • Fisher Family — $50.
    • Halle's Helping Hands — $700.
    • Kintz Insurance — $760.
    • Miller's Thrillers — $3,356.76.
    • Never Lose Hope — $3,116.57.
    • North Adams Schools — $3,707.
    • Once Upon A Cure — $2,098.75.
    • Rhabdo Raiders — $2,420.
    • Ribbons of Hope — $268.20.
    • Steve Rich/State Farm Insurance — $50.
    • Team DSM — $693.84.
    • The Longenberger Family — $1,566.58.
    • The Stooges — $475.
    • Tom's Litter — $3,009.05.
    • Tough Ole Birds — $1,430.
    • Walgreens Walkers — $1,048.
    • Walmart — $195.05.
    • Woodforest Bank—$150.
    In addition, purchases of luminaria raised $280, there was $650 in team registration funds, and $354.50 in miscellaneous donations was also given.
