From staff reports
Old Man Winter, not officially due to arrive until Dec. 21, made an early visit to Adams County over the weekend as the first substantial snowfall of the winter season left the county mostly paralyzed early Saturday morning.
Seven inches of snow fell across the Adams County area over the weekend and light snow continued to fall this morning as commuters made their way along snow covered roads. The heavy snow, coupled with winds around 30 mph Sunday, caused many county roads to drift, making some nearly impassable.
All three county schools were on two hour delays at press time, as were nearly all the schools in surrounding Wells, Allen and Jay counties, and Van Wert and Mercer counties in Ohio. An additional inch of snow was expected to fall in the area today, with light snow showers expected Tuesday morning.
