Amos Liechty Jr., 73, of Berne, passed away at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at Swiss Village Nursing Center.
He was born in Adams County on December 17, 1938, to the late Amos Liechty Sr. and the late Della Nussbaum.
On May 24, 1957, he married Berverly Fenstermaker; she survives in Berne.
Amos was a 46-year employee of Berne Furniture, where he drove truck for many years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne.
Among survivors are his son, Tab A. Liechty of Geneva; daughters, Monica (Kent) Stoppenhagen of Decatur; Tami (Jeff) Sprunger of Berne; Marie (Gregg) Nussbaum of Berne; sisters, Irena Sprunger of Berne; Leona (Phil) Neuenschwander of Berne; and Grace Herman of Petroleum; brother, Ernie Liechty of Berne; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Drew, Madison and Clayton Stoppenhagen; Sidney and Grady Sprunger; and Anna and Margaret Nussbaum; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Candice Shannon; three sisters, Vera Gerber, Marcella Scholl, and Esther Neuenschwander; and two brothers, Grover Liechty and Irvin Liechty.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, at Swiss Village, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Marion Missions.
