Aloysius "Al" Brite, 78, of Indianapolis, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
He was born on June 30, 1932, in Decatur, Indiana, the son of Julius and Gertrude (Geels) Brite.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sandy) McCarty of Madeira Beach, Florida, and Mrs. Joseph (Nancy) Thompson of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Sean, Carey, Erin, Calyn, and Lacy McCarty and Michael and Bobby Thompson; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Justine Brite) Walter of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Reinhard (Mariann Brite) Selking of Decatur; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He is also survived by his best friends and neighbors, Larry and Peggy Born and Linda Holden, who were his devoted and dedicated caregivers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Strough) Brite; two brothers, John and Roman Brite of Decatur; and two sisters, Mrs. Glen (Frances Brite) Griffiths of Avilla, Indiana, and Sister Regina (Margaret Brite) of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
Al was a retired self-employed hairdresser at the former King Cole Building for 35 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Services for Al were held on Monday, March 28, with Father Bob Gilday officiating.
Burial was in Washington Park East Cemetery at Indianapolis. The pallbearers were Joe, Michael, and Bobby Thompson of Indianapolis and Jim, John, and Joe Selking of Decatur.
Preferred memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers in Indianapolis.
