Alice M. Bittner

    Alice M. "Sally" Bittner, 98, Decatur, passed away at 9:48 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Alice was born Thursday, Jan. 21, 1915, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lizetta (Hanni) Reinhart. 
    She married the late Alton C. Bittner Aug. 20, 1934, Decatur; he passed away Dec. 2, 2002.
    Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur; and a former longtime Sunday School teacher at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur and St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble. Alice was a homemaker.
    Surviving are two sons, Frank (Marlene) Bittner of Decatur and Ronald (Carolyn) Bittner of Marion, Iowa; a daughter, Faye (Robert E.) Keuneke of Decatur; two brothers, Ted Reinhart of Decatur brother and Max Reinhart of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Alice in death were three brothers, Melvin, Wayne and Harry Reinhart; three sisters, Lola Fox, Helen Foor and Mabel Bishong; and one great-grandson, Alton Charles Bittner.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
    Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
    Preferred memorials are to Bethesda Home, Lutheran World Relief or St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble.
