A face familiar to Adams County voters is making a return to the political arena.
Judy Affolder, former county assessor, has been selected by the Adams County Democratic Party as its candidate for the County Clerk of Courts seat. Affolder has filed the necessary paperwork and will appear on the November general election ballot. She will be opposed by Jim Voglewede Jr., who won a Republican primary race in May.
No Democrat filed for the clerk’s office prior to the May primary. Political parties had until June 30 to fill any ballot vacancies.
A lifelong resident of Adams County, Affolder was elected as Adams County Assessor in 1998 and held that position for 12 years. During that time, Affolder says the office “evolved from an antiquated DOS (computer) system to one of the most accurate and user-friendly assessment tools available.” She said new technology was embraced to enhance real estate and personal property assessments.
