Adams County spring break calendar

    Adams County is set to offer a variety of fun family activities during this year’s spring break, March 22-29.
    Villa Lanes Bowling Alley in Decatur will offer bowling for all ages in a smoke-free environment. Paying bowlers receive a free soft drink. The cost of the event is $2.75 per game/ $10 per hour/ $1 shoe rentals per person.
    Spare Time Lanes in Berne will offer bowling for all ages in a smoke-free environment. Paying bowlers receive a free soft drink. The cost is $3 per game, per person. Shoe rentals are free.
    Open swimming will be available during spring break.  Children 5 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Children not potty trained must wear a swim diaper. Swimmers may be limited due to pool capacity. Pool entrance is at door S1.  The cost is $1 or a pool coupon.
    Disc golf is the newest addition to Kekionga Park. A recreation staff member will be present to answer questions and explain how to play at select times and dates. Bring your own frisbee or disc. Recommended parking is along Parkview Drive.

Tuesday, March 25:
    10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. — LEGO Robots, all ages, APLS-Decatur. Bring your own LEGOs, or use those provided, to build LEGO robots. No lunch will be provided.
    11 a.m.-5 p.m. — Spare Time Lanes bowling.
    12-4 p.m. — Villa Lanes bowling.
    1:15-2:15 p.m. — Plant a Mini Garden, ages 7-12, APLS-Geneva. Use a two-liter bottle as the frame for your own mini-garden. Plant flower or herb seeds that may be transplanted as the plants grow.
1:30-3:30 P.M. — Open swim at Bellmont High School.

Wednesday, March 26:
    10:30 a.m.-12p.m. — Paper airplane target flight, all ages, APLS-Decatur. A target course will be set up to test the airplanes. No lunch will be provided.
    11 a.m.-5 p.m. — Spare Time Lanes bowling.
    12-5 p.m. — Villa Lanes bowling.
    1-2:15 p.m. — Spring Break LEGO challenge, ages 5-12, APLS-Geneva.
    1-3 p.m. — Kekionga Park disc golf.
    6-8 p.m. — Open Swim.

Thursday, March 27:
    11 a.m.-5 p.m. — Spare Time Lanes bowling.
    12-4 p.m. — Villa Lanes bowling.
    1:15-2:15 p.m. — Crafts with books, ages 7-12, APLS-Geneva. Learn how to make simple crafts from old books.
    1:30-3:30 p.m. — Open swim.
    3:30-4:30 p.m. — Origami creations, all ages, APLS-Decatur. AJL Trekkers program is expanded today for all ages during spring break.    
    6:30-7:30 p.m. — Flower planting, all ages, Riverside Center, Decatur. Take a break and plant some seeds and flowers with Heller Nursery. We will be potting pansies, sowing vegetable seeds and starting jade plants from cuttings that children may take home and watch grow. Jessie Myers from Heller Nursery will lead the demonstrations and answer questions on growing plants. Fee: is $1 per participant. All supplies will be provided, however, supplies will be limited to the first 50 participants. To be guaranteed a spot, call Riverside Center at 724-2520.

Friday, March 28:
    10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. — Hopscotch, jacks and pennies, all ages, APLS-Decatur. Try your hand at some games less played. We will supply the hopscotch stones, the jacks and the pennies. No lunch will be provided.
    11 a.m.-12 p.m. — Spare Time Lanes bowling.
    12-6 p.m. — Villa Lanes bowling.
    1-2:30 p.m. — Spring tulips on canvas painting, 8 years old and up, Riverside Center. Learn basic techniques using artist materials, from local artist Ruth Green and create your own original artwork. Fee: $4 per person. Must pre-register and pay at Riverside Center by 4 p.m. March 27.     1-2:45 p.m. — Movie and popcorn, all ages, APLS-Geneva. Spend the afternoon watching the movie “Frozen” and enjoying popcorn.
    6-8 p.m. — Open swim, all ages, BHS.

Saturday, March 29:
    7 p.m. – Disney “Frozen” movie, all ages, Bellmont Middle School. The Adams County Fraternal Order of Police will present the newest Disney animated movie “Frozen.” This is a family oriented event and all children must be accompanied by an adult to attend. A door prize will be awarded to one lucky boy and girl. Free popcorn and beverages will be provided by the FOP Lodge. Donations will be accepted to fund future events.Recommended parking at south side of BMS.
