AC leader deflects ‘creationism’ criticism

October 30, 2013

The science curriculum at Adams Central Schools has been targeted for criticism by a worldwide organization working “to protect the principle of separation between church and state.” And officials at the school have deflected that criticism.
According to information from the Freedom From Religion Foundation website, Adams Central Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Richmond earlier this month was sent a letter from the foundation addressing the school district’s alleged “illegal” teaching of creationism in high school biology classrooms.
Richmond on Tuesday denied any wrongdoing by the school or its staff, stating unequivocally the school does not does teach creationism to students.
