WABASH — Adams Central rocked out 25 hits in a 10-1, 14-3 double-header sweep at Southwood Saturday, improving to 15-6 on the season.
The Jets pounded out seven runs in the first two innings of the first game, and then the solid Jets' defense took control of the game Sammie Baker slammed three singles and Olivia Macklin knocked in three runs for the Lady Jets.
Sydnee Peterson pitched the first five innings, striking out five with a walk and one hit allowed in getting the win. Abby Busse pitched two perfect innings of relief.
"I liked the way we came out hitting the ball in that first game. It set the tone. Those were nice road victories," stated Jets' coach Cary Blake.
Thompson had two hits for Southwood and Bentley took the loss, striking out eight with two walks and 11 hits allowed.
Jenae Blackburn had two hits and scored twice and Mary Fox hammered three hits for the Jets.
The Jets struck late in that second game, scoring nine runs in the final two innings to pull away.
Bess Fiechter, Alyssa Keller and Baker all collected three hits for the Jets. Alexa Baller had two hits. Baker, Blackburn and Fiechter all scored three times in the rout.
The Jets are off until Wednesday when they travel to Bluffton to meet the host Tigers in the first round of the Bluffton 2A Softball Sectional.
"Everything points to the sectional games. Every game seems to have a meaning this year," added Blake.
Fiechter was the winning pitcher, fanning four with no walks and two runs allowed. Peterson fanned two in two innings of relief.
Thompson took the loss, walking seven with four strikeouts and six wild pitches. Unger, Bentley and Hensley all had two hits for Southwood.
