The Adams Central High School Band has qualified for the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) regional competition by virtue of receiving a “Gold” rating in the recent District Class D competition.
The judges also singled out the Squadron of Sound for one of the three top awards in its class. Adams Central received best “General Effect.”
AC Band Director Mike Satterthwaite said, “They’re a strong group of performers who really want to get back to Lucas Oil Stadium [in the State Finals]. It’s a great first step. The kids showed a lot of guts in awful conditions and pulled off their best performance of the year.”
On Saturday, October 16, the band will compete to the Regionals at Chesterton Community High School in Chesterton, near Valparaiso. The Squadron will be seeking to move on to Semistate — and ultimately the state competition on October 30 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
This Saturday, the AC band will compete in two contests in Fort Wayne: the Homestead High School Fall Festival of Bands, performing at 10:26 a.m., and the Wayne High School Mighty Panther Parade of Champions, performing at 4:39 p.m.
