The Adams Central High School Marching Band is now ranked among the top 20 Class D bands in the state and has qualified for the Indiana State Music School Association (ISSMA) Semistate competition.
Last Saturday, marching bands from throughout Indiana competed in regional ISSMA contests at four sites: Chesterton High School, Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Evansville Central High School and Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Performing at Chesterton, Adams Central received a “Gold” rating and placed in the top 10 bands at that competition.
The stakes grow even higher next Saturday at the Semistate contest at Franklin Community High School, near Greenwood. The AC Squadron of Sound will be going head-to-head against those exceptional 20 Class D bands, and the judges will select only 10 of them to advance to the ISSMA State Finals on Saturday, November 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Squadron of Sound is led by drum majors Logan Roe and Jenna Stroup, and directed by Michael Satterthwaite. Other staff includes color guard directors Brittany Satterthwaite and Jennifer Dunlap. The visual staff consists of Mike Beights and Luke Hollinger, while John Moss serves the arranger and percussion instructor.
