Three sophomores at Adams Central High School have been awarded $1,000 each for a project they completed in their global studies class: designing a trip they plan to take to Switzerland in the summer of 2013.
Erika Steffen, Kaitlin Carroll, and Ben Lehman received the money from Education First (EF), a group founded in Sweden, but with headquarters in Lucerne, Switzerland. The United States headquarters of EF is located in Boston.
The trio planned a 10-day trip for which they will be raising funds and that will take them to the cities of Zurich, Bern, Geneva, and Lucerne as well as to such sights as Rhine Falls, the Zurich zoo, a toy museum, a museum of natural history, a scenic garden, and the largest fountain in Europe, called Jet d'Eau.
The three also will shop and do such things as tobogganing, paragliding, and climbing on a rope course.
The $1,000 amounts were presented by Kim Kieft of South Bend, the EF manager in Indiana.
