2.2-inch rain recorded here

October 20, 2011

Two-plus inches of rain and it just keeps on coming.
Officials at the Decatur weather station said this morning that 2.2 inches of rain fell here in a 24-hour period up to 7 a.m. today. That caused a dramatic rise in the St. Marys River of nearly nine feet, from 2.6 feet to 11. feet at 7 a.m. today.
Meanwhile, rain was continuing to fall well beyond 7 a.m., and the National Weather Service said more was expected here today.
Chances of rain tonight, however, drop to 30 percent, and Friday through Sunday are expected to be dry, forecasters said.
