A day after surviving Eichhorn's Jewelry in the semi-finals, undefeated 1st Class Hoosiers faced another challenge in the championship when they edged Rorick Electric in a pitcher's duel, 3-1.
Rorick had just beaten West End in the other semi-final, 10-1 and were definitely playing their best softball after 1st Class had been virtually unopposed all season long.
In the championship game, the Hoosiers jumped out front, 1-0 in the first inning but Rorick's soon tied the game with one of their own in the second frame. It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Hoosiers broke the tie with two runs in the bottom half to take the two-run lead.
Lexi Lose went six stellar innings for 1st Class allowing just the one run but without a hit allowed to Rorick's with nine K's and two walks. Rylie Velez also pitched well but in a losing effort for Rorick's going five innings and allowing only three runs on two hits with two walks and eight K's.
Morgan Tracey had the game's only extra base hit with a double that scored the game-winning run in the form of Kaitlyn Hawkins in the fifth. She would then score off the bat of Kenzie Hackman. Hackman scored a run as well on a Lose RBI. Rorick's only run of the game came in the second when Alyssa Selking walked and reached home on errors.
