At a little after 8 a.m., a van driving east on Hwy 124, just west of 400 W, failed to see a buggy also traveling east and crashed into the rear of the vehicle, according to Sheriff Shane Rekeweg.
Rekeweg said details of the accident are still unclear, but there were at least five occupants in the buggy, and one fatality, possibly a child.
Two victims were airlifted to Fort Wayne, while three were transported by ambulance to Adams Memorial Hospital, then transported to Fort Wayne.
The condition of the victims is not known at this time.
Further details will be available in tomorrow's printed edition.
