Hammond blanks Raiders, 5-0

    MONROE— Andrew Hammond went the distance on Thursday night shutting out the Southern Wells Raiders in a 5-0 complete game win for the Jets at home.
    Hammond threw a total of 100 pitches on the night facing 27 batters and earning eight K's with four walks, while allowing just three Raiders hits.

Shinabery, Braves get 2nd straight no-hitter, 10-0

    The Bellmont Braves continue to make their case as the sectional favorites on the baseball diamond.
    Wednesday’s example came at the expense of the North Side Redskins as the Braves toppled their Fort Wayne foes in five frames, 10-0.
    Oh, and Mason Shinabery recorded the second no-hitter in as many nights for Bellmont 24 hours after Ryan Okoniewski did it Tuesday at home against South Side.
    Tough break for the Sides in Fort Wayne.

Ok throws no-no for Braves

    Ryan Okoniewski hit South Side's Kyle Reichert in the top of the fifth inning with a pitch that put him on first base.
    It was the only time a baserunner reached in the game for the Archers as the junior hurled a complete game no-hitter to lead the Braves to an 8-0 win on Tuesday night.

Brune wins Cato Scholarship

    Many times when gazing through the looking glass at student-athletes and their accomplishments, the student gets lost in translation.
    Bellmont senior Josh Brune is the epitome of the term student-athlete and prides himself on being the best at both portions. After winning one of 13 IHSAA/C. Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarships this year, now he has proof.
    Josh recently attended the banquet dinner down in Indianapolis for the event where he was a bit overwhelmed by the trip.

Bebout named to ‘Soph 79’

Bellmont sophomore Taylor Bebout has recently been honored by PrepVolleyball.com landing on the annual Sophomore 79 list.
The honor, given to the top second-year volleyball players for their outstanding contributions to their high school teams, is given out every year by the group as well as a Freshman 59 list.
This is a nationally given award, not just Indiana, making it all the more special for the Bellmont setter.

Central blasts Tigers, 10-2

    MONROE— Adams Central's bats swung wide open earning them their first victory of the young season on Thursday night with a 10-2 victory over the Bluffton Tigers.
    A five-run first inning set the tone for the Jets led by six singles in the frame. Cody Crump stole home to break open the scoring, then Luke Liter, Lance Busse, and Matt Baker would smack three consecutive RBI singles scoring one run apiece.

Starfires blast Canterbury softball in five innings, 19-0

FORT WAYNE— After losing to county rival Adams Central to start their season, the South Adams Lady Stars have come up with their second straight win dismantling the Canterbury Cavaliers 19-0 in five innings.
“It’s a confidence builder,” noted SA coach Jessie O’Dell after the win. “We had some kids that have struggled early to hit the ball and came out tonight with some big hits. I think though it was more the defense that we were happy with tonight though.”

Lady Jets score big late; top BHS, 9-1

    MONROE— Three Adams Central homeruns broke open a close game in the bottom of the sixth Monday night as the Lady Jets defended their county bragging rights with a 9-1 decision over Bellmont.
    "We've been hitting the ball very good lately but the first five innings it didn't seem like it," noted AC coach Cary Blake.

Braves dominate CvC Classic

    In what has become the unofficial ringing in of the high school baseball season for Adams County, the fourth annual Coaches Versus Cancer Classic was a booming success at Bellmont on Saturday as all three county schools met up for a triple-header on what easily the best day for baseball yet this spring.
