Stars top Jets, 14-12

    BERNE—The Jets had a chance to take their revenge on the South Adams Starfires on Thursday night after losing their first meeting in the Coaches versus Cancer Classic earlier this season, but the Starfires repeated their late-game heroics with a five-run sixth inning to take the lead and put their cross-county rivals on their backs, 14-12.

NHC track meet sees Squaws 2nd place

    The gospel according to Bellmont girls track coach Carl Risch was simple.
    Risch knew his Squaws wouldn't win many dual or triangular meets this year because of a lack of depth that allows other teams to roll up points with second, third, and fourth place finishes.
    But when it comes to tournaments and bigger events like Tuesday nights Northeast Hoosier Conference tournament, Risch knew he had a special nucleus and that Bellmont would be a team to be reckoned with.

DBA gets boost from Courtesy

       Courtesy Motors, participating in the national Chevy Baseball program, is sponsoring Decatur Baseball for the second straight year, furnishing a host of equipment, funds, and 2,000 raffle tickets towards top prizes, and can be used for $25 off service and a car wash at Courtesy Motors. Stidam walk-off lifts Braves to win

    Bellmont second baseman Matt Stidam shocked the New Haven Bulldogs in the bottom of the seventh inning when he delivered a 1-0 fastball over the left-field fence to lift the Braves in walk-off fashion to a 4-3 win against their talented NHC rivals on Tuesday night at the Teepee.
    After trailing for most of the game, Bellmont tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning and neither team scored again until Stidam's lead-off jack to end the game.

Starfires stomp Woodlan

    WOODBURN—The Starfires traveled to Woodlan High School on Tuesday night in an ACAC clash with the Warriors and came away with an explosion of offense resulting in a 12-1 victory in six innings.
    After a scoreless top of the first, Woodlan looked to be headed for a good night when they scored their only run, which came off of Starfire errors, but South Adams would not go scoreless in an inning again.

Lady Jets dominate ACAC tourney

    The ACAC girls tennis tournament was held over the weekend at Adams Central with the Jets taking advantage of home-court advantage earning a conference record five first-team selections and a second team placer as well, while going undefeated in the first day earning the ACAC crown.

Norwell wins SA invite; Squaws 2nd

    BERNE—Bellmont dominated the winner's stand Friday night in the girls portion of the South Adams Track Invitational but it was the depth of the Norwell girls that gave the Knights a 130-105 win over the Squaws in a nine-team field.
    Bellmont swept eight of the 15 events on the night and in the process of doing so set one new and tied one Bellmont school record, and shattered four SA Invitational marks.

Lady Stars shock Squaws, 6-2

    BERNE—The Lady Starfires continue to improve this season as their win total is now three times higher than last year's season mark.
    On Saturday, South Adams hosted the always tough Bellmont Squaws for an inner-county rivalry game where the host Stars defeated their visitors, 6-2 improving to 9-11 on the season.

AC beats Heritage at Parkview Field, 7-5

    FORT WAYNE—The Jets and Starfires had the opportunity to play where the pros do when they traveled to Parkview Field home of the Tin Caps to play in the annual ACAC games at the ball park.
    Adams Central did what they have done all season long...get an early lead, lose it, then come from behind to take the victory. Lately, they've been doing it against quality teams.
