Iron Kid event results

    The 2012 Iron Kid triathlon, sponsored by the Decatur Parks & Recreation, was held July 21 at Adams Central High School with approximately 50 area children participating in the three event competition.

1st Class Hoosiers stay undefeated with 3-1 win over Rorick's

    A day after surviving Eichhorn's Jewelry in the semi-finals, undefeated 1st Class Hoosiers faced another challenge in the championship when they edged Rorick Electric in a pitcher's duel, 3-1.
    Rorick had just beaten West End in the other semi-final, 10-1 and were definitely playing their best softball after 1st Class had been virtually unopposed all season long.

    After breezing through the first round against the eight-seeded Decatur Dental Monday night, 12-0, the 1st Class Hoosiers faced their toughest game of the season in the semi-final match-up against Eichhorn's Jewelry but six runs in the fifth inning sealed the comeback win for the undefeated one seed, 11-9.

ONTO PIT ROW—Members of the Will Power car crew pull the racer onto Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the Indy 500 earlier this year. Crews and teams continue preparations for this weekend’s second annual event, the Brickyard 400.

True Value nabs second place at Hoagland

    In the Eight and under All-Star tournament held in Hoagland this weekend, Decatur True Value placed second out of four teams losing in the championship on Sunday to the undefeated New Haven All-Stars.

Wilder hurls no-hitter

    Beka Wilder of Minds Eye Graphics pitched a no-hitter against First Bank of Berne on Monday evening during a senior league game at Hannah Nuttman as the squad topped Bank, 8-0.
    The only blemish on the hurler for the night was seven issued walks to Bank batters but timely K's made up for the free passes as she ended up with nine strikeouts in the game as Mind's Eye coasted to another victory.

Muncie AAU team places fifth

   AAU NATIONAL TEAM—The Asics Munciana Mogwai volleyball team out of Muncie, IN recently placed fifth in the nation in the 13-Open division of the 2012 AAU Jr. National Volleyball Championships held in Orlando, FL on in late June. This year they also competed in the JVA Wold Challenge in Houston on March 30 where they finished second overall. Players on the team consist of girls from the Muncie area with two players from Indy, and a local Decatur player, Taylor Bebout, who is in the back row second from the left in the photo above.     Courtesy Motors completed a perfect season last night at Worthman Field defeating Erie Haven 10-9 in a nail-biter earning the regular season and tournament Sandy Koufax titles for Adams-Wells Counties.
    The pair of Decatur squads faced off after Erie Haven won their semi-final contest in Monroe the night before and Courtesy handled the Monroe Harvestland crew in five innings.
