Braves beat on North Side, 14-5

May 17, 2012

FORT WAYNE— A day removed from a stunning 1-0 upset from East Noble, the Braves vented their frustrations on the lowly North Side Redskins in a 14-5 rout on Wednesday night during a non-conference battle.
The loss to East Noble put a damper on the Braves' NHC hopes, but Bellmont is not faltering as their main goal has always been a sectional title and beyond. The win against North Side was just another stepping stone for the heavy hitters in the Braves' lineup who are now hungry for playoff baseball.

Lady Jets smash Raiders

May 15, 2012

PONETO—Adams Central slapped out 10 hits including a home run and three doubles and stopped ACAC opponent Southern Wells by a 12-3 tally in varsity softball action Monday at the Raiders' diamond.
Adams Central never trailed in the game as Coach Cary Blake's crew erupted for six big runs in the top of the first and then added five more in the third. Southern Wells came up with a pair in the bottom of the fourth to avert a possible 10-run mercy game when Baublet doubled in both Raider runs.

Braves outlast DeKalb, 2-1

May 11, 2012

The Braves have done it again, winning another conference game in the stacked NHC by the slimmest of margins, this time a 2-1 victory over the DeKalb Barons on Thursday night to stretch to a 4-1 mark amongst the Northeast Hoosier Conference teams.
Bellmont junior ace Matt Chronister found himself in a pitching duel once again going the distance for all seven innings allowing only one run in the ball game on six hits.

Stars top Jets, 14-12

May 11, 2012

BERNE—The Jets had a chance to take their revenge on the South Adams Starfires on Thursday night after losing their first meeting in the Coaches versus Cancer Classic earlier this season, but the Starfires repeated their late-game heroics with a five-run sixth inning to take the lead and put their cross-county rivals on their backs, 14-12.

NHC track meet sees Squaws 2nd place

May 10, 2012

The gospel according to Bellmont girls track coach Carl Risch was simple.
Risch knew his Squaws wouldn't win many dual or triangular meets this year because of a lack of depth that allows other teams to roll up points with second, third, and fourth place finishes.
But when it comes to tournaments and bigger events like Tuesday nights Northeast Hoosier Conference tournament, Risch knew he had a special nucleus and that Bellmont would be a team to be reckoned with.

Stidam walk-off lifts Braves to win

May 9, 2012

Bellmont second baseman Matt Stidam shocked the New Haven Bulldogs in the bottom of the seventh inning when he delivered a 1-0 fastball over the left-field fence to lift the Braves in walk-off fashion to a 4-3 win against their talented NHC rivals on Tuesday night at the Teepee.
After trailing for most of the game, Bellmont tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning and neither team scored again until Stidam's lead-off jack to end the game.
