Braves finish hectic week with 4-1 showing at Super Six

    INDIANAPOLIS — Bellmont capped off one of the busiest eight days in the history of the program, going 4-1 and losing only to No. 17 Carmel at the North Central Super Six Saturday.
    The Braves, 10-4 in the 14 meets during that period and 8-1 this week, had solid wins over Lawrence North, 34-21, and Center Grove, 43-18, to go with a 72-6 rout of Chatard, and a 75-6 blitzing of North Central.

Starfires pound So. Wells in ACAC mat battle, 45-19

    BERNE— South Adams earned five falls, took a pair of forfeits and rebuffed match-time strategy by Southern Wells coach Ryan Landis in two other slots in a 45-19 ACAC wrestling win over the Raiders Friday night at the Stardome.
    "They kind of played games, so we had our guys ready, and they stepped in and got the job done," stated South Adams coach Barry Humble, who has written a few books of his own about match manipulation.

Norwell @ Bellmont, boys basketball webcast

   Tonight the Braves host neighbor county Norwell to the Teepee in an NHC rivalry on the court. The JV contest will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. with the varsity contest set for 7:45. The DDD pre-game show will begin at approximately 7:15 p.m. or immediately after the junior varsity contest. Railroaders advance to ACAC finals with win over Jets

    FORT WAYNE— After an 18-8 explosion to open the ACAC semi-final at the Memorial Coliseum on Thursday night, the Jets could not maintain their scoring prowess and the Garrett Railroaders escaped with a 54-49 victory to move on to the finals.
    Woodlan awaits Garrett in tomorrow morning's final back in Fort Wayne as they defeated 2012 champion Bluffton in the first game of the double-header ensuring a new champion not named Bluffton, Leo or Heritage for the first time in 16 years.

Braves manhandle Homestead, 68-6

    Bellmont, now rated 16th in the state, made it a 4-0 week in the NHC by dominating an under-manned Homestead squad Wednesday, 68-6 at the Teepee.
    The Braves, who swept out three loop foes, including No. 18 (IHSWCA poll) East Noble Monday, scored seven falls, a tech fall and 11-7 decision at 138 pounds with Danny Baker, and went 12-2 overall Wednesday to go 6-1 in NHC dual meets this season.

Jets shoot past Raiders in ACAC opener

    MONROE—The opening round of the 91st boys and 40th girls ACAC basketball tournament opened for Adams Central and Southern Wells at the Hangar Tuesday night with the Adams Central boys posting a 61-49 victory over the Raiders while the Wells County girls breezed past the Jets by a 58-28 count.

Bellmont earns staple NHC win against #18 ENoble, 37-22

    KINGSLAND — A highly-motivated Bellmont wrestling team turned in it's top performance of the season Monday night at Norwell, denying No. 18 East Noble a second consecutive victory over the Braves. With the convincing 37-22 NHC win, Bellmont racked up a second win over a top-20 team in three days, and now leads the series with the Knights 27-1.

Braves break out a 2-3 effort in the Main Event at BHS

  "I just told the kids to go over to the (auxillary) gym, and walk around, talk, find an attitude," explained Bellmont coach Brent Faurote, whose wrestling time out  was never more needed, after a 48-21 thrashing by No. 15 Mishawaka in Saturday's Main Event, likely the toughest super dual in the state.
 "We did not wrestle with an attitude against Mishawaka ... but then we  came back and wrestled really well in the Bloomington South match."

Heritage survives second half push from Lady Jets, 41-38

    MONROE—Despite a gutsy second half performance on Friday night, the Adams Central Lady Jets (3-9) fell just short of the win as they fell to the Heritage Patriots (9-3) by a score of 41-38 at the Hangar.
    "Overall, I thought our second half performance was one of the best stretches we've played in all season," explained AC head coach Sam Beer. "Heritage is a great team, and the way we were able to come back in the second half the way we did against them was great."

    Bellmont played its first four games away from home but Thursday night lit up...
