Leo takes five top spots in ACAC tennis tourney

    MONROE— The Leo Lady Lions dominated the ACAC tennis match at Adams Central’s home Saturday afternoon earning all three first-team conference spots in singles as well as two spots as the top doubles team as well.
    Jen Timbrook won the singles title for the Lions after earning a first-round bye as Leo’s number one player. She defeated Olivia Mishler in the quarters 6-1, 6-2 after AC’s number 3 upset Maddie Graber of South Adams 6-4, 2-6, (11-13).

Gilreath shuts down Jets

    MONROEVILLE— Kara Keller stroked a single to start off the game against the Heritage Patriots on Thursday night.
    After that, no Lady Jets' batter reached base the rest of the game.
    Kamio Gilreath hurled her way to a one-hit shutout against Central at home to top the Jets 3-0 in ACAC play.
    There were no earned runs recorded in the game as Heritage tallied three runs all on AC errors in the first three innings.

Vogel, Knights down Central in walk-off

    FORT WAYNE— The Fort Wayne TinCaps welcomed both Norwell and Adams Central to Parkview Field Wednesday night for a chance to play on the big stage in a non-conference, cross county battle.
    In the bottom of the seventh, Norwell first baseman David Vogel broke a tie in walk-off fashion with a single to right field scoring Nathan Allison from third base easily ending the game 4-3 in favor of the Knights.

Spartans dumps late runs to down Braves

    The Braves entertained NHC juggernaut Homestead on the baseball field Tuesday night battling to stay close until nine runs in the final three innings pushed the game out of reach in a 16-7 defeat.
    The most telling stat of the game for Homestead was 12 of the 16 runs produced were with two outs in the inning.
    "We gave up mistakes all game long," noted BHS coach Ben Fawbush. "It was a missed pop-up here, a bad pitch there. We gave them opportunities all night long."

Lengerich, AC edge Parkway in nine, 11-8

    ROCKFORD, OHIO— A three-run homerun from Conner Lengerich in the top of the ninth inning fueled a Jets' victory in a marathon non-conference game at Parkway Monday night, 11-8 in extra innings.
    Central broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the seventh when Lengerich walked, then scored two batters later on a Cooper Hill single but the Parkway Panthers would keep the game alive with one in the bottom half thanks to an RBI single from Jenson Riley tying the game back up at 7-7.

Jets win AC Invitational

    MONROE— The Adams Central boys track squad won a decisive victory in their own AC Invitational over the weekend with a 131-point showing against the six-team field at the Hangar.
    The Jets were first place over Bluffton (118) who took second followed by Northfield in third (67), Fremont in fourth (47), Southern Wells in fifth (43) and Canterbury with 19 points.

Squaws’ big sixth leads to comeback over Mississinewa

    The Squaws tallied four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday night pulling out a come-from-behind victory against potential sectional opponent Mississinewa, 6-3.
    For Bellmont (3-9), the win is their second in as many days after wiping up North Side on Thursday.

   Tonight the Squaws host Mississinewa at the Teepee in a softball contest that will be broadcasted by the DDD (weather permitting). The game is slated to begin at 5 p.m. but due to the drive for the Indians, there may be a delay to the start of the contest.

Jets comeback on Garrett, 19-7

    MONROE— The Garrett Railroaders led 6-0 after two complete innings on Thursday night at the Hangar, but Adams Central rallied for an incredible 19 runs on 13 hits in the final three frames to earn the 19-7 victory in five innings.
    A three-run homer from Noah Follett seemed to set the tone for Garrett (1-13) and a two-run blast over the fence from Dillon Diehm made it 6-0 in the second but the Jets flipped the script and the bats came alive in the third.
