South Adams' Hannah Moore took control of the race midway through and never let up, earning the individual crown at the Bellmont Girls Cross Country Sectional Tuesday afternoon as her Starfires took second and Bellmont fifth as the Squaws extended their streak of regional qualifying to 17 straight.
Heavily-favored Homestead won the meet, taking four of the top seven places for 27 points to the 82 of South adams and 98 of Norwell. Woodlan took fourth with a 140.
Three runners from Bellmont, three from South Adams, and one from Adams Central advanced to the boys' cross-country regional on Tuesday by placing in the top 15 at the sectional held at Bellmont. There were 76 participants.
Bellmont led 2-1 in intermission, but two second-half goals by New Haven proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs ousted the Squaws from the 2010 state soccer tourney with a 3-2 win in the opening game of the BHS Girls Soccer Sectional Monday.
Senior Brittany Thatcher and sophomore Andrea Fruchte tallied first-half goals for Bellmont, which closed out a successful 10-5-1 season. New Haven, paced by goalie Karisa Jacquay, blanked Bellmont in the second half.
With Norwell pressing in on the Bellmont goal, Jaron Moser was able to recover a loose ball and popped a shot high from 20 yards out. The ball came down and just underneath the crossbar for the only goal of the game in the 78th minute as the visiting Knights defeated Bellmont 1-0 for the 2010 Bellmont Boys Soccer Sectional championship Saturday night.
Madison Schultz knocked down 11 kills in 19 attempts with only two errors, adding a solo block, a block-assist and three digs to lead Bellmont to a three-game sweep of Columbia City Thursday at the BHS court.
The win clinched the NHC championship for the Squaws, who went unbeaten in league play for the fifth straight season.
In six years under Craig Krull, the Squaws are now 41-1 in the NHC.

Bone suffered a potentially critical neck injury Monday night in a junior varsity football game while playing quarterback for Marian University against Anderson University. He suffered fractures to the top two vertebrae of his cervical spine located at the very top of the spine at the base of the skull.
MONROEVILLE — Adams Central survived a pair of comeback rallies from Heritage Tuesday night and moved on to Thursday night's semi-final round of the ACAC volleyball tournament with a 25-22, 25-18 victory over the Patriots.
All eight conference teams were in action Tuesday at Heritage with ACAC leader Woodlan whipping Southern Wells 25-14, 25-3, Leo downed South Adams 25-15, 25-18, and Garrett handed Bluffton a 25-18, 24-26, 26-24 decision in the closest match of the night.
