Keller’s 50-foot heave a key in Jets OT victory

January 13, 2011

MONROE—It may be hard to believe that the most electrifying moment in an overtime game came not at the end of either regulation or OT, but at the close of the third quarter. However, it was true at Adams Central on Wednesday night.
The Lady Jets overcame pesky, scrappy Bluffton, 57-53, in the ACAC Tourney and wound up tied with the Lady Tigers at 48 at the end of the fourth period thanks to a miracle shot for all time.

South Adams jumps into matt poll

January 12, 2011

Bellmont moved from ninth in last week's Indianamat.com state wrestling poll to eighth this week, and South Adams entered the poll for the first time at No. 19.
The Braves' 3-2 showing in the "Main Event" super duals at Bellmont over the weekend helped Bellmont remain in the top 10. The Braves defeated defending state champ and then sixth-rated Mishawaka Saturday, and also knocked off No. 14 Bloomington South, which dropped out of the poll.

Jets, Tigers set for ACAC clash

January 11, 2011

Action in the longest running boys conference tournament in the state of Indiana will start tonight at four high school sites.
The 88th annual ACAC boys tournament and the 37th ACAC girls event will open play at Woodlan, Adams Central, Leo, and Heritage. The draw for the tournament was held back in December with South Adams picked to travel to Woodlan, Bluffton going to AC, Leo will host Southern Wells, and Garrett and Heritage will meet at the Patriots gym.

Hop's heresy: 'Main Event' the real deal

January 11, 2011

I can't remember a stronger Bellmont Super Dual (Main Event) than took place Saturday in a 10-hour marathon.
Of course, the old Indiana's Best with Mater Dei, Bellmont and St. Ed's was no day at the park.
This was the real deal with as good a Bellmont dual team as the Braves have had in some years, plus a rock-solid No. 2 Perry Meridian team, and then the ever-budding Penn squad (varsity one).

Braves top Cavemen; Falcons, Kingsmen go 5-0

January 10, 2011

Brad Busse came off of his back and pancaked Mishawaka's Trey Taylor, capping 48 seconds of pinning fury and igniting Bellmont to a 38-30 victory over the defending state champs Saturday at the BHS Main Event Super Dual.
The Braves also downed No. 14 Bloomington South, 43-21, and took out two-time state finalist Castle, 39-31, before losing to No. 2 Perry Meridian and No. 7 Penn to go 3-2 on a very tough day on the mat.

Jets kayo Dwenger en route to sweep of AC duals

January 10, 2011

Adams Central came through the day unscathed, taking out Bishop Dwenger and four other squads to go 5-0 in the first annual Adams Central Super Duals.
"We hadn't beaten Bishop Dwenger in a long time, so it was a big win for us," stated Adams Central coach Doug Schultz on the 37-33 victory over the Saints.
"We had the two forfeits and they had a solid team all the way across, so we had our work cut out for us, but the kids came through," said Schultz.

‘Main Event’ gathers a wrestling storm

January 7, 2011

With five of the top 10 teams in the state coaches poll, five of 14 No. 1 rated wrestlers and 29 ranked matmen overall ... Bellmont's "Main Event MMXI" set for Saturday will definitely produce previews of next month's state championships to be settled at Canseco Fieldhouse and Center Grove High School.

Meyer to Region 3 All-Star team

January 7, 2011

Bellmont fullback Daniel Meyer has been named to the Regional 3 All-Star team, it was announced today by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.
Those named to the Region 3 Team will be nominated for a spot on the North All-Star team for the annual game held in July in Indianapolis.
Bellmont has had three players involved in that contest over the past two seasons.

No. 2 Perry Meridian heads field for rugged Bellmont Super Dual

January 6, 2011

"The super dual at Calumet is very good, but this one is definitely one of the very best, with six out of the eight ranked. You can't get much tougher," stated Bellmont coach Brent Faurote on Saturday's annual wrestling feast, the Bellmont Super Dual.
