That's what Shirley Wass must have been thinking as she started into a pile of rings from the West End Restaurant tent during the Taste of Decatur at Riverside Center on Monday, August 22, 2011. Cory Affolder, who heads up the Decatur Optimist Club's sponsorship of a Decatur appearance by the Kelly Miller Circus, has been hanging around with some odd-looking folks of late, including this person with the funny outfit. The circus is offering two shows in Riverside Park today, May 9, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Eggs don't grow on trees, but the egg trees at the Decatur branch of the Adams Public Library System have grown on the public since their first display in 1950. Some seven mini-trees loaded with 200 or so decorated eggs, are on display in the children's room of the library through April. On the day photo was taken, Mr. Lincoln was wearing a Dr. Seuss hat from the famous Cat in the Hat books.
Playing frisbee on a windy day requires more effort, as Amber Heimann showed while moving in for a catch the afternoon of March 21, the opening day of a week of spring-break activities set up by the parks and recreation department. Her frisbee partner was Noah Obringer, 14. The event was held in Homestead Park.
