Bluffton students surround their basketball players after the Tigers knocked off Bishop Luers, 80-68, at South Adams March 7, for a 2A Sectional championship. Luers had eliminated the Tigers for three consecutive years.
There's a basketball somewhere up there, the ball flying high during the Feb. 17 fundraising basketball game at Bellmont on behalf of the Adams County Crime Stoppers. A group of police, mostly from the county, played the K105 Hoopsters from Fort Wayne radio station WQHK. ... Dana Kaczmarek is crowned Bellmont High School's 43rd Silver Arrow queen Thursday night by the previous queen, Emily Ehlerding. Dana, the daughter of Dan and Rhonda Kaczmarek, plays softball, basketball and soccer at BHS and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Coach B.J. Faurote is flying high (far right) along with his wrestlers and a large contingent of Bellmont fans at a crucial point in the Feb. 9 wrestling Team Regional at Adams Central. The Braves topped Yorktown, 30-18, and Carroll, 36-23, to advance to the Team State Meet on February 26. Details.
FAN FUN ... Adams Central students were whooping it up at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne Jan. 13, as the Jets battled high-scoring Leo in the ACAC tournament. Leo finally prevailed, 85-79 in overtime, after 15 lead changes and 10 ties.

It can't be said that the Bellmont High School cheerleaders aren't in the Christmas spirit. Santa hats and festive socks ruled the day during a recent boys' basketball game here.
Adams Central Assistant Coach Brian Jordan's son Branson, 5, had a better-than-front-row seat for the December 9 AC-South Adams wrestling showdown. But what he saw didn't please dad — the Starfires came away with the win, 38-18.
... Seems a new "team" — one with a couple of odd-looking characters — turned out for the Adams Central girls basketball game on Nov. 30. The guys were wearing jerseys from a team no one had ever heard of and were enjoying themselves. Rumor has it that the jerseys were purchased cheaply a few years ago from an AAU team in Michigan.
A noticeable size difference was in evidence on Sunday at a two-hour basketball clinic conducted Bellmont High School by members of Fort Wayne's Mad Ants pro team for about 100 local boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade.
