    I haven’t even had time to pump up my old basketball in the garage yet!
    The Starfires make a point of keeping the pigskin tradition alive tomorrow going for their first regional title since 1992 against Tri-Central. There seems to be something else going on tomorrow as well, however.

When is hazing really bullying?

    It’s not an easy question to answer, really.
    I know first-hand from my college days that there is an inescapable trait most men have to “razz” each other. Most of the time it’s not meant to cause serious psychological harm to the other parties involved but the other side of the coin is that sometimes it’s more harmful than we think.

Beating the odds...again?

    The Squaws were already out-ranked by the Delta Eagles entering Tuesday night’s regional battle.
    According to the coaches’ poll for Indiana class 3A, Bellmont was ranked fifth and the Eagles were surging as the third best team in the state.
    None of that seemed to matter to the seniors at BHS as they put a serious beat down on Delta at the Teepee in four games.

Dave Schirack...one of a kind

     "He wasn't especially athletic or skilled, but he learned the sport, fought his butt off and turned himself into a good wrestler," said former Bellmont wrestling coach A.J. Kalver, describing some traits that carried the late Dave Schirack through his life, which ended last weekend when the home town carpenter, coach, outdoorsman, dad, grandpa and friend of scores of Decatur folks passed away after suffering from an aneurysm.

    Carol Burnett, who entertained millions of viewers with her namesake variety show from 1967-78, received the nation’s top humor honor at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts over the weekend. Among those performing in honor of Burnett were Julie Andrews, Tony Bennett, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and others as she received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
