Chillin' with Dylan— The state of the NFL name

September 16, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, and a slew of other NFL athletes have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons in the last few weeks and with so much confusion and chaos surrounding the circumstances, I think it’s time the NFL puts a few things into perspective.

Chillin' with Dylan— Bellmont, AC...a rivalry game

August 21, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
I wasn’t even thought of in 1978. In fact, all my future mother and father were concerned with was how they would fit in the next year when they started high school.
Apparently, however, that marked the last time that Bellmont and Adams Central played football against each other.

Chillin' with Dylan—The state of baseball today

July 31, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
It took a long time to get here for me.
I love baseball. It’s been my favorite sport to play since I was a wee-lad but a far cry from my favorite sport to watch.
One could make an exception about going to an actual game but that goes for any sport. I would go watch the Olympics for the atmosphere but to sit in my living room and consider myself “glued” to the Curling finals is asking a lot.
    Baseball is in trouble.

Chillin' with Dylan— Tough golf at Sycamore Hills

July 17, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
Last year I did not take up the offer to golf at Sycamore Hills when the Hotel Fitness Championship held their first media day.
The tournament is entering its second year out of a three-year contract with the Fort Wayne golf club at Sycamore Hills and once again I attended to see what the shenanigans were all about.

Chillin' with Dylan—Soccer: America’s new fave?

There seems to be a shifting tide in sports happening right before our eyes.
Think about what you were watching on sports television last year around this time. I can’t tell you how many times I got tired of hearing about football and who was holding out on their contracts or getting arrested in the pre-season.

Chillin' with Dylan—Why the NBA is relevant still

June 26, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
The NBA draft is tonight starting at 7 p.m. and it got me thinking just how far the Association has come in rivaling football.
The marketing of both sports have really set the bar when it comes to a 12-month schedule of sports and how much we think about them. When the football season is over, fans revel in the aftermath of the Super Bowl and the celebrations/parades that go on with that.

Chillin' with Dylan— Changing the Redskins name?

June 19, 2014

By DYLAN MALONE
I knew this would get enough steam eventually.
The NFL professional team in Washington officially has the world’s attention with their name “Redskins” and a movement has been brought forth to change it.
This is something I’ve tried to keep an eye on for some time and the gauge for which I analyze this particular case may be a little different than other cases similar to this one.

Chillin' with Dylan—Today’s busy sports slate

First of all, giving credit where it always seems to be due, Bellmont girls track has turned another successful season in to the history books and it can’t be overstated.
In the last few seasons, it has been amazing to watch the program flourish with a combination of leadership, teamwork, and an abundance of good genes. These girls have worked so hard to make this school a respectable program despite it’s small size by comparison to perennial powers like Carroll, Homestead, and Northrop.
