Scott Miller says there are no significant bullying problems at Bellmont Middle School, and a new program introduced at the school is likely to help continue on the same course.
"No, not at all," the BMS principal says when asked if the anti-bullying program used there was due to a problem. "We got this grant three or four years ago (the same grant funds the school resource officer) from the government and it required us to set up the Olweus program.

So once in a while you have to sit back and pop in a movie you think is safe for the kids ... when suddenly you find yourself laughing and enjoying the movie more than they are. They're at that age when it's just not cool to laugh at something your parents like as well so they stifle their guffaws as much as possible while you smile and laugh out loud.
Too bad because they miss out on some fun movies that way. Movies like ZOOKEEPER.

This week is a special Halloween edition of Chillin’ with yours truly. In honor of the holiday that all little boys and ghouls love, I wanted to share some of sports more “spooky” statistics you readers may or may not have known. Enjoy.

Before I go too far into the world of sports, I’d like to give a shout out to the man who made me a cartoon, Derek Miller, who worked tirelessly on the sweet new header for this column. He went out of his way to do that for me and I thought it was note-worthy to name drop for him here in my space. Stay tuned for the column next week, “Halloween edition.”

Sitting here in the office on a brilliantly-sunny, unseasonably warm fall day. And I’m thinking about ice.
Or, more specifically, about ice hockey.
The NHL season starts tonight and, coupled with the ongoing Major League Baseball playoffs, it’s the junkie’s perfect fix — baseball and hockey on the tube at once (and no NBA to unnecessarily clog up the ESPN airwaves).

A battle could be be brewing between the City of Decatur and Mediacom, the city's cable provider.
Mediacom, it was learned at Tuesday night's city council meeting, is seeking to extricate itself from the $26,000 franchise fee it annually pays the city.

Honestly, I am tired of seeing the Halloween masks for Ghostface, the mask all killers in the SCREAM films wear every year at Halloween. Enough, already. That being said, it’s nice to see a new film in the SCREAM franchise being released in time for folks to rent during the Halloween season.
With all the potential killers killed off in parts 1-3 you would think the story would have ended. Then again this was a film franchise and when it comes to Hollywood box office, who cares?
